
GB NATIONAL BOXING AWARDS



The GB National Boxing Awards give students the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of training without hurting others or being hurt, providing a healthy channel for energy and aggression.
All participants learn a new activity as well as gaining credits towards the Boxing Educational Qualification (the certificates can be used to support the following: GCSE, BTEC, ASDAN, Duke of Edinburgh Award and Princes Trust Award).

All levels will be taught by our England Qualified Coaches, holding a minimum of Level 1 grade, with First Aid, Safeguarding and Enhanced DBS certification.

The first three Awards (Preliminary, Standard and Bronze) are all non-contact and are designed for the novice boxer.They will be introduced to the sport of boxing and learn the basics of boxing skills and techniques under safe, non-contact conditions. They will also learn the basics of a healthy lifestyle, nutrition, anatomy and the rules of boxing. To complete each level an assessment will be undertaken to ensure the candidate has learnt all aspects before moving on the the next level.

The remaining three Awards (Silver, Gold and Platinum) involve technique development in modified sparring and will be coached by a fully qualified Level 2 boxing coach.

The Platinum Awarld takes the boxer into a ring with a skills bout, allowing the boxer to demonstrate the skills, fitness and ability they’ve learnt while completing all six of the GB National Boxing Awards. This will be held at a Club show at a fully organised event.





Non-Contact Level
The awards will be tutored by Stevenage ABC England Boxing qualified coaches. The initial three certificates are designed for the novice boxer as an introduction to boxing and a healthy lifestyle.
The aim is to your boxing skill and technique in a safe way, at the same time increasing self-esteem and confidence.

Preliminary Certificate
The Preliminary Award teaches stance, guard, torso movement, footwork, straight punches and self-defence. It incorporates technique and partner work, shadow boxing, skipping and boxing drills.

Standard Certificate
The Standard Award teaches combinations, warm up routines and more complex movements. During the Standard Award, you’re assessed on technique and partner work, shadow boxing, punching on the move, rules and general knowledge of boxing.

Bronze Certificate
​The Bronze Award involves technique and partner work, shadow boxing, bent arm punches, pad work, non-contact sparring and incorporates rules and general knowledge.
Each certificate can be used to support the following:
GCSE, BTEC, ASDAN, Duke of Edinburgh Award and Princes Trust
Each certificate has a value of one credit towards all ASDAN awards and qualifications
Semi-Contact Level
The Silver, Gold and Platinum awards are designed to prepare the boxer for an England Boxing Skills bout. At the same time promoting a healthy lifestyle, fitness, weight control and building self-esteem and confidence.
As some contact is involved, boxers will be required to undergo and medical performed by an England Boxing registered doctor.

Silver Certificate
To pass the Silver Award, students must have passed a boxing medical. The Award incorporates more complicated movements, combinations and techniques, requiring higher levels of skill and ability.

Gold Certificate
The Gold Award involves warm up, skipping, pad work, bag work, shadow boxing, combination work, condition sparing, circuit training, coaching, warm down, conduct and a short written project.

Platinum Certificate
The last of the Awards, the Platinum Award involves a skills bout that tests all of the skills, knowledge and abilities acquired throughout all previous Awards.
Each certificate can be used to support the following:
GCSE, BTEC, ASDAN, Duke of Edinburgh Award and Princes Trust
Each certificate has a value of one credit towards all ASDAN awards and qualifications
